If your’e an online pc gamer and enjoy rpg/mmog’s then your’e going to love this game.
What is it?
Star Wars The Old Republic is a online multilayer role playing game which has over 10 servers altogether. It is a Very popular game with players from all around the world. To find out more check out the webpage: http://www.swtor.com/
Is It Free?
Star Wars The Old Republic is now featuring a ‘free to play’ feature for members who don’t want to become subscribers for whatever reason. This limits you somewhat as to what you can buy and do. (obviously, otherwise why bother having a Subscription feature in the first place?)
These servers are huge! When you select a server be sure to go for one that’s not empty but medium full. that way there are more people to work with without being on a packed and slow server.
You can choose from different classes from the start of the game;
Bounty Hunter, Republic Trooper, Smuggler, Sith Warrior, Jedi Knight, Imperial Agent, Jedi Consuler and Sith Inquisitor. All These classes have there own ‘specialities’, e.g. Bounty Hunters have the ability to rocket punch whereas sith warriors can use force lightning. You must choose your class wisely. The best way to do this is to imagine yourself in the star wars universe, and then imagine what and who you would be. If you think you would be a soldier then choose republic trooper. – Simple right?
Each class will have their own storyline missions and side missions. Each mission will earn you in-game money (Credits), experience and certain rewards such as armour and commendations.
There are various currencies in this game, each for purchasing different items in the game.
A few of them are, Credits (standard currency in this game), planetary Commendations (earned by killing enemies and completing missions), Cartel Coins (To spend in the cartel market selling exclusive items (Must be purchased)), PVP awards (earned through completing various war-zones).
Skills are what you use to defeat enemies with. As you level up, You have to level up your skills. Say your level 20 but your rocket punch was only level 15, you would go to a skills vendor and pay credits to level them up. The higher the skill level the more it costs to level them up.
The weapons in this game are based on what class you have chosen. If you are a jedi knight then obviously you wouldn’t use a blaster. You can upgrade your weapons with mods and kits.
In SWTOR each class has their own ship. they all do the same thing but just look different.
In your spaceship you can complete space missions which are just rail-shooters but are good fun for earning experience and money. You can upgrade your ship’s main components at ship upgrade vendors. These are usually found around spaceports of plants and space stations.
You can buy mini ships called speeders which increase your movement speed obviously and look cool.
You can ride them around everywhere and anywhere on planets and most increase your movement sped by 90% +!
So that sums up Star Wars The Old Republic.
