Are you ready for Super Bowl XLVIII? Whether it’s the great commercials or half-time show that you’re excited about, there is no doubt that food will be on your mind. I will list the top 5 appetizers to make your stomach happy even if you’re team doesn’t win.
The number one appetizer is buffalo wings. Great wings couldn’t be any easier to make. All you need is a Fry Daddy and some of Hooters wing breading and wing sauce. The trick to making great wings is to first bake them in the oven at 375 degrees. Next, coat them in the breading and fry them to perfection.
Number two on my list is Lit’l Smokies. For this appetizer, all you need is a crockpot and your favorite BBQ sauce to achieve a great taste. First, drain the Lit’l Smokies, then place them in a 3-quart crockpot. Pour your favorite BBQ sauce over them and cook on high for two hours. Leave the crockpot on low to keep warm while serving.
Number 3 on my list is a great bean dip. Your friends may come to your house to watch the Super Bowl, but a great 7-layer bean dip will bring them back next year. A seven layer bean dip should include refried beans, taco seasoning, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, lettuce, cheese, black olives, and fresh cut tomatoes. You can place the layers in any order, however, it often works best to have the heavier items at the bottom of the bowl.
Number four on my Super Bowl list is home made Chex Party Mix. To make this party favorite, you will need corn, rice, and wheat Chex cereal. You will also need bite-sized pretzels, garlic-flavored bagel chips, melted butter, worcestershire sauce, salt, onion and garlic powder, peanuts, pecans or cashews, and your favorite small cubes of cheese. Place all ingredients in a large bowl except for the cheese and mix. Then pour the mixture into a shallow baking pan and bake for 40 minutes at 275 degrees. Let the mix sit for 20 minutes, or until it is cool to the touch, and then add the cubes of cheese and get ready for a touch down.
Last but not least, any reputable Super Bowl party would not be complete without something sweet. Number five on my list is Bourbon Balls. The 21 and under crowd may miss out on this super treat in a bowl. To make these tasty treats you will need raisins, bourbon, chocolate wafer crumbs, brown sugar, pecans, molasses, cinnamon, ground ginger, and ground cloves. Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl and let sit overnight in the refrigerator. Finally, form the mixture into 1-inch balls and eat them after your team wins.
