“Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalms 23:6 NLT).
I’m Rachel, and this is a story a dream I had of a visit I made to my real Home. When I think of how Psalms 23 ends, I remember this dream well. God has a big family, and I’m so glad to be a part of it! Let me tell you about my dream!
My dream started when my angel looked down at me and smiled. “Rachel, this is your future home. You are a royal princess. What do you think of that?”
“I like it pretty well. Yes, it’s awesome, really. But it all seems like a dream.”
“Oh, it will for now, but not forever. You might as well look around and get used to it.”
“I want to see the King!” I declared excitedly. I could not wait to meet Him.
“He wants to see you, too!” my angel laughed. “Come with me.”
We walked down the streets of the city and they were not like any streets I had seen before! They were clear, shiny and gold. Light dazzled and sparkled off the street and all the walls of the buildings which were made of jewels of all sorts! “The buildings sure are pretty!” I remarked.
My angel chuckled. “Actually those walls you call ‘buildings’ are just different rooms in the Father’s house. This city is His palace.”
“Wow!” that took a while to sink in as I looked all around at rooms and the streets that stretched out for miles. Finally, I had another question, “Who lives in all those rooms, or what are they for?”
“Well, if you look over there, that entire section is for the angels.”
“Oh,” I saw the big section where he pointed, but compared to the entire city or palace, it was only a small part. “But what about all the rest of the rooms that spread out for miles?”
“Well, there in the middle where all the light is streaming from is the throne room, of course.”
I had seen that. You can’t help but see it from anywhere you are in the city. The glassy lake all around it must be the Sea of Glass that is mentioned in the Bible! “Yes, but there are buildings or rooms that go on for miles and miles all around! What are they for?”
“Well, that is for His royal family who will come from Earth one day. Each family member has his or her own room.”
“Wow! There’s room for everyone that ever lived on earth!”
Smiling my angel said, “Room for anyone who wants to come. The Father has made sure of that, and Jesus Himself has prepared them especially for each person. Come down this way, and you can see yours. I won’t have to tell you which one it is. You will recognize it right away.”
My Own Room
My angel was right! I did recognize it! “There it is!” I yelled and ran right up to it. I knew I was home, but I really wanted to see the King.
“Yes! That’s it! Go on in. I’m right behind you!” my angel seemed as pleased as I was!
The room was just perfect! I could think I had decorated it myself because all my favorite things and styles were there.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. I looked at my angel. “You have to open it. It is your room.”
I did, and Who do you think was standing there? I fell down and said, “Thank You, Jesus! Thank you for everything!” He helped me up and gave me a wonderful hug. I could have just clung to Him forever!
“You don’t have long,” Jesus said. “You need to dress to meet with the Father. He is waiting anxiously. Over there are the crown jewels for you to wear. Go ahead and put them on.”
I looked over at the jewels and then down at my clothes. I hadn’t noticed before, but I had on an outfit that shimmered in light, truly the most “wow” clothes I had ever worn! The jewels were like none I had ever seen! They were gold set with stones the most dazzling. “Oh!” was all I could say.
“You are a princess, and you are your Father’s jewel. Your robe is My righteousness and salvation. Your jewels are My righteousness, as well. You will wear them and celebrate with Me. They represent the jewels I gave you when you were on the earth.”
I looked carefully at the jewels, and it was true. One was named meekness. Then, I saw kindness, purity and beauty. It was amazing! I shook and could hardly put them on. Jesus helped me.
The Throne Room
Before I knew it, I was out of my room and on my way to the throne room. I could feel my heart pounding because I was walking beside Jesus, Himself! I could hardly keep walking as I thrilled to be so near Him, but this meeting was one that I had been waiting for. I was Home!
I do not know quite how to describe the majesty of God on His throne room! It is so utterly spectacular and awesome. I could hardly stand. I just wanted to fall down and bow before Him with my face to the smoothness of the shimmering Sea of Glass.
Jesus helped me stand before the Father on His throne, and I did feel more at home than I had ever felt. I was so thankful to this wonderful God who struck me with awe and drew me to Him with such a loving manner. I just wanted to stay with Him there and thank Him forever for being the most wonderful Father. I wanted to spend eternity thanking Jesus. I am grateful to Jesus for everything He has done for me, and I knew I understood so little of what they had both given for me.
Just for Now
All too soon, God told me that I must return to Earth. Things were not finished there yet. Someday very soon, Jesus would return to bring all God’s royal children Home to be with Him forever. Now, I must continue to live on Earth.
I understood that people would not recognize that I was royalty any more than they had recognized Who Jesus was, but the Holy Spirit would give me opportunities to touch the lives of other people. He would help me to show others what God was like and what it meant to be a daughter of the Ruler of all. The sight of all those empty rooms in my Father’s house stays in my memory. He wants them filled with His children!
Such bits of information are not popular on Earth, and I have my share of trouble. Still, I can just be following Jesus’ example, and His Spirit will always be with me. I will never be alone.
I felt so sad to leave the Father’s house where I am truly at Home and love to be. I cried a little, but then I looked at Jesus and saw the scars in His hands and feet. I could not feel sorry for myself when I saw what Jesus gave up here to come down to Earth!
Jesus has done so much for me. With God’s help when I return to the Palace again, I will bring others with me. Surely His goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will live in His House forever! I am royalty, and I will live with Him forever! What a gift! I pray that I will make my Father proud.
