Are there particular things you hate to do? Yes, is my answer! Below are ten things I hate to do and why. They are in no certain order; can you relate to any of these? If not, you probably have your own list. Let’s be honest; we all have things we hate to do!
#1. I hate getting up early! Before my retirement, I had to get up at 5 a.m. for many years. Since retiring, I vow never to get up that early again unless it is necessary. I hate getting up on cold mornings even more! My personal thoughts on getting up before 9 a.m. is, “that it is for the birds!”
#2. I hate to feel obligated to say, “I am feeling fine,” when actually I am not. However, after living fifty-one years, I have learned people prefer you say that, instead of sharing with them your problems. I just have to grin and bear the thing I hate to do!
#3. I hate to shave my legs! I hope I am not the only woman who feels this way. I do not think I am though. I hate to shave my legs because I can never seem to get “every single hair.” It irks me when I have spent more minutes than I want to shaving and then out in the sun, boom, the hairs I missed stick out like sore thumbs! I sincerely wish I had naturally hairless legs.
#4. I hate to have my heart broken. What can I say? Every woman hates this; am I right? I actually avoid relationships in order to avoid a broken heart. I guess that is why I am single at fifty-one!
#5. I hate to gain weight, especially now at middle age! It is hard, if not impossible to lose. My muffin top displayed over my jeans make me wish I could eat ten fresh and warm blueberry muffins, not exercise to get rid of it.
#6. I hate going outside without wearing sunglasses. That is why I never do! Since having Lasik surgery in 1999, my eyes are very sensitive to light of any kind. I also suffer from extremely dry eyes, so wearing sunglasses help shield me from the wind and other weather elements.
#7. I hate for something to go wrong with my car. When it does, I get panicky because I do not know who to trust, or who to call to fix it. I feel very vulnerable with mechanics.
#8. I hate feeling sleepy all the time. Unfortunately, this is something I have to endure. Parkinson’s disease and the medications prescribed to me for the PD can both cause excessive daytime sleepiness. The worst part is not being able to stay awake when I am sitting still, like in church! This embarrasses me big time!
#9. I hate to cry, because when I do, it is only because I am mad or I have hurt feelings. In addition, I do not like either one of these feelings. Usually when I cry, I cannot stop for a long time. It makes my head hurt, I am all stopped up and can’t breathe. Worse, my eyes swell up and feel extra dry after the crying has ended.
# 10. I hate to shower. I love tub baths! Showers are too quick for me. Bath time for me is a time to unwind from a hard day, to read a few chapters in my book, and to nap. I do shower sometimes, like after cutting grass, but I take a bath every evening to relax my mind and body. It also helps me to fall asleep sooner.
Do not believe these are the only ten things I hate to do. There are many more. I feel better after writing about them. It is as if I have vented some bottled up hate. Thank you for reading this. I welcome you to comment at the bottom of this article and share some of the things you hate to do!
