Spring has finally arrived and in some areas we are still waiting for the weather to catch up. If you have been homeschooling your children you are probably all ready for everyone to head outdoors. Well wile you are waiting for the weather to catch up to the season, you can start the planning process. Below are ten way to really embrace spring time with your homeschoolers.
1. Start planting
Starting your indoor garden is a great way to get started for spring. Not only is it a lot of fun, but you don’t have to wait until the weather is better to get started. All you need to do is head to your local Home supply store or gardening center to pick up your supplies. If you are not sure where to get started you can Google some help.
2. Plan a picnic
The spring time is the best time to go on a picnic. It get’s the kids outdoors, and the entire family can participate. You can even invite other homeschooling families along to help out. You can even plan a few games that they can play along with their friends.
3. Plan a nature hike
Most kids love to be out in nature, and a nature hike is just the perfect option. Check you rlocal area to see if there is a park nearby with a nature trail. Mot states have parks with hiking trails that will allow they kids to see how spring time helps things to grow.
4. Go for a bike ride
Kids love bike riding, and when you plan a family bike riding trip, everyone gets to particpate. Not only is it a great way to get some exercise, and get out in the fresh air, but you can explore as you ride. Try to locate some bike trails in your area, and make sure that everyone has their bike helmets.
5. Take a farm trip
Try to locate a farm that allows visitors in your local area. There are some farms that have programs for local homeschoolers. You can contact the farms and see if they have special programs or visiting days that you can take the kids.
6. Fly some kites
Kite flying in the spring time is really a lot of fun for homeschoolers. You can check your area to see if they have any special kite flying events, or you can plan your own. Kites are inexpesive and you can usually find them at your local arts and crafts store or at the dollar store.
7. Go fishing
Takeing your kids fishing is really a fun activity for the entire family and an inexpensive one. In most states adults will have to pay for a license but the children are free to fish. Buying fishing rods for your young children is inexpensive and you can find these at your local Walmart store for a reasonable price.
8. Start a Butterfly garden
A butterfly garden can be a lot of fun. You can order the butterly kits that are especially made for kids online, or from your local Toy store which usually has these around the spring product. Watching how catterpillars turn to butterflies can be a lot of fun, and educational as well.
9. Take school work outside
During spring many homeschoolers still have a lot of work that they need to get done so take field trips may not be an option. If this is the case you can easily move your school work area outdoors. Set up a table and some chairs outside and have your lessons in the sun.
10. Plan a zoo trip
A zoo trip in the spring time is a lot of fun. In some cases you may be able to see some babies that have been born at the zoo. Many zoo’s often have special days for homeschoolers that can be a lot of fun.
