That text message was sent to my phone from the guy you have to feel most sorry for: Brad. After all, he (and all of us leaguemates) were watching our beloved Atlanta teams flop over the weekend – the Braves wasting a stupidly-good start from a veteran facing baseball’s best starting pitcher, while the Falcons…you know what? I don’t want to talk about it.
But you have to feel for Brad. He’s consistently shot himself in the foot, leading the league by a mile in the “Points below maximum” category. And this week was no different, as he chose to start Dallas’ offense against Denver, resulting in the first 500+ yard performance by a Cowboys QB. Ever.
Hello, -27 points!
Even more notable, however, may have been just how wretched Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub was. As if his fall from grace wasn’t bad enough, he chalked up points for getting benched (35 points), another pick six (25), a three-turnover game (12), and more for multiple interceptions, no touchdowns, and no passes of longer than 25 yards.
Hello, 102 points! (Insert Bryan fist-pumping here)
We here at the BQBL League Headquarters of One now officially would like to add a new section to the story: BQBL Storylines to Watch.
- Will Bryan be destroyed by having to start Peyton Manning five times later this season?
- Has Ryan ruined his chances to get positive points from Tom Brady as Rob Gronkowski is expected to return soon?
- Will Brad ever break 100 points?
- These teams have been used every week thus far (unless they had a bye week): Buffalo, Cleveland, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, and Miami
It was a week of major hits or major misses throughout the league, as yours truly doubled down with horrid Buffalo and Carolina games to equal Bryan’s torrid week and vault up the standings. Meanwhile, the battle for last…just keeps getting weirder.
It’s week five of the BQBL. As usual, if you want the tidy version of the points (and the updated team usage stats), check out the photos.
