The Best San Antonio, TX, Hotel That I Have Stayed In

by fat vox

One of the nicest affordable hotels I have ever stayed at was the Extend A Suites Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. I rented a one-bedroom with my cat. Sometime after I left, their policy changed to “no pets.” My room was small, relatively clean, and well-cared for. I had no issues with the television, the microwave, or the refrigerator in the room. Here is a description of the amenities I enjoyed:

Outside my room, a meticulously clean pool awaited me; there are no lifeguards and signs asking parents to accompany and watch their children were clearly posted. The landscaping was clean and well tended. There are laundry facilities located on the hotel property for guests to use; if any issues with the machines arise, the washing machine’s owners make repairs quickly. Guests can have barbeque pits, as long as they are used outside on the grass and all safety precautions are used. Ashes and used charcoal should be put in the trashcan to avoid fines or eviction.

The hotel staff was friendly; I had mail delivered to the hotel because I lived there. Anytime I received a package, my room was notified. In the lobby, a soda and candy machine dispensed snacks 24 hours a day. For those rooms without a microwave, one was available in the lobby. The hotel does have free Wi-Fi for the guests; it is easy to log on and enjoy writing, watching movies and so on.

Each of the rooms has cable television, which included such channels as Sy-Fy, A&E and many more. My room had a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. Microwave cooking in the rooms is permitted.

During my stay, my room’s carpeting was steam cleaned. This made the room seem even better. The shower and tub were old, but there were no leaks or stains and everything worked perfectly. My room was cleaned well by the housekeeping staff every week. They were friendly and very ameniable.

The local VIA bus stops right outside the hotel; passengers have a small distance to travel to transfer to other buses.

Extend A Suites Hotel

Located at 9735 IH 35 North in San Antonio, TX, the reservations and main hotel lobby desk can be reached at 210-569-6791. Reservations can be made in person, over the phone and online. Since I stayed there, rates have changed somewhat, but when I stayed there, I was paying $190/week. That was for myself and a pet deposit fee for my cat.

If the hotel’s policy on pets were to change, I would definitely rent a room from them again. I never went more than a few hours without any issue being addressed.
