Most of the time it is easy to get an interview; however, being the one that is remembered to get the job is a different story. Here are few successful tips to interviewing that can help when going to any job interview. Also know where the main headquarters is located at, these are questions that could be asked at any time during an interview, and will show that you have what it takes to do the research for the job.
The first tip is to be prepared. Know about the company, the services they offer, the different aspects, and countries that they operate in. Know about the programs that they run the languages they deal with, and also know about the different opportunities within the company. Make sure that your breath is good before you leave, if not chew a breath mint really fast before going in. Do not chew gum, slouch, or be disrespectful during the interview. Do not put down another company that you worked for; this will make the interviewer think that once you leave you will mock their company. Make sure you have a firm handshake and make great eye contact.
The second step is to make sure that you are not over-talking or under-talking in the interview. Don’t talk too much, no one wants to hear the life story of someone who is going to be working there, they want to know specifics and why they should hire you. Keep it short and sweet. With every question is an opportunity to advance yourself, or to build yourself up. The most common questions are: Why do you want to work for our company? How do you handle someone who is upset or an irate customer? What are some of your weaknesses and strengths? What makes you qualified for this position? If I were to call your last supervisor, what would they say about you?
These are all common questions that you should be prepared to answer before the interview even begins. Write out the answers, and practice them with someone around. Practice makes perfect.
If there is a chance to up-sell yourself then do it. When asked about your weaknesses try to incorporate how strength can be a weakness. A great example of this would be one of my weaknesses is a can do attitude; however, this is also one of my greatest strengths. This will show them that even though there is bad, it is also a positive for them. Don’t say my tardiness or anything to bring yourself down, only something that can be turned around to good.
An Interview can be a very stressful situation, but the main thing is to keep calm and remember that you have the skills to achieve this position.
