Poll after poll this week concluded that the American people blame the Republican Party for the first government shutdown in nearly two decades. This information is perfectly fine with Ted Cruz. His main objective has never been to defund ObamaCare. It is not even the government shut down itself. Ted Cruz’s main objective is, and always has been, to destroy the GOP.
Ted Cruz is a true RINO (Republican in Name Only). Although running under the GOP name for his Senate seat, Ted Cruz makes John McCain look like a liberal. He makes Peter King look sane. Ted Cruz is about as polarized and radicalized as it gets, and he knows that he cannot win the GOP ticket for a national election in 2016 on this premise.
So what is Ted Cruz trying to accomplish with the government shut down? This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who is paying attention. The number one rule in deciphering politics is to follow the money trail. The New York Times published an incredible investigative piece on a secret plan to defund ObamaCare, where leading conservative groups met in secret to discuss a plan to shut down the government, and with ObamaCare being the center piece of negotiations. This is where the ‘fool’s errand’ began.
No matter which path you start out on, the money trail always leads to Charles and David Koch, who are the billionaires behind this master scheme. They funnel millions of dollars annually into “conservative” minded think tanks, such as Freedom Works, Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce and Heritage Action. However, the Koch brothers are not your traditional, Reagan conservatives. They have always been far more to the right than this. Charles and David Koch are libertarians.
Beginning their political careers in 1980, the Koch brothers set out to dismantle the American establishment. David Koch ran for Vice President of the United States of America on the Libertarian Party ticket. Both brothers were the main contributing financial backers to this campaign. While the party was listed on all 50 states, it accumulated less than 1 percent of the national vote, a colossal failure given the near unlimited funding at their disposal. Realizing that their objectives were not in line with the American people, they decided to alter the values of the American people with think tanks.
In today’s politics, the Koch brothers prefer to hide in the shadows, quietly dispensing millions of dollars to organizations. Some of these organizations then give a portion of the funds to other, smaller organizations, in an attempt to keep the funds as far away from their initial holders as possible. Through this process, Charles and David have successfully recreated the 1980 Libertarian Party platform under a rebranded name: The Tea Party.
Heritage Action’s ‘Defund ObamaCare Tour’ with Ted Cruz is a blatant example of this. The Koch brothers, who have been huge contributors to Heritage Action and its sub organizations since its inception in 2010, added a half a million dollars to the groups’ funds this month. Ted Cruz does not work for the American people. He works for billionaire oil tycoons.
These guys do not like the moderate Republicans that make up the current establishment. They have no interest in negotiating with the John McCain’s of the party, let alone any type of liberal or progressive faction. Additionally, the plan has never actually been to defund ObamaCare. The only way to actually get rid of the Affordable Care Act is to repeal it. The only way to repeal it is with a Tea Party controlled congress, and a Tea Party President. Ted Cruz and his puppet masters know all of this. They knew that the plan do defund ObamaCare would be an epic failure from the moment they created the secret plans and talking points. Their real plan, however, is working famously.
As I stated earlier, Ted Cruz will never be on the Republican Party ticket for President of the United States of America. Consequently, running against a Democratic candidate and a Republican candidate is nonsensical. Splitting conservatives into two smaller groups guarantees that both groups lose the election to a single Democratic nominee. This is very basic math.
The ultimate goal here for Ted Cruz is to systematically dismantle the Republican Party. He is ecstatic about the historically low poll numbers the party is receiving. He’s even happier with congress’s incredibly low ratings as a whole. Yes, Ted Cruz is winning a battle that his opponents are unaware they are fighting. He is blindsiding his conservative “friends,” sending them into panic as they try to end this government shutdown while still keeping their constituents happy. Moderate Republicans are in a lose-lose situation. And As the Republican Party crashes and burns, a new, libertarian-minded party rises from the ashes. And Ted Cruz is primed and ready to handle the resurrection.
You might be thinking that Ted Cruz is damaging himself in this process, and he is, but only to moderate Republicans, and Democrats who would not vote for him anyway. However, by the time the next election rolls around, the moderate Republicans will not have a party of their own, and they will be forced to vote for the only viable “conservative” on the ticket. Equally important to note is that around 44 percent of the country does not even know who Ted Cruz is. He has a few years to distance himself from the awful situation he is in currently.
Ted Cruz will be running for president in 2016, but he will not be on the Republican Party ticket. Ted Cruz will be the first ever Tea Party candidate to run for the President of the United States of America, and the Republican Party will become a footnote in American history.
