Now in this article we are going to look at the top 5 potential, but realistic, returns or reappearances at the 2014 Royal Rumble match. As a side note to that, I do not think all of these can happen .. some would negate the other’s … so realistically only one or two maybe three on this list could happen.
He left in 2010 to follow his dream of wrestling in Japan and since then we have not seen MVP in the WWE. Have we missed MVP? When he was around he was one of the key players on the Smackdown brand with memorable rivalries with the likes of Matt Hardy and Kane. In 2009 his career took a bit of a forgettable turn on the RAW brand before going back to Smackdown and becoming less than a valuable player.
But what if he returned, even just for one night like RVD did in 2009. I think MVP could come in make for a couple of interesting spots, allow JBL to use one of his more famous calls “Ball’in” and be gone. As for a future he is a natural heel, for some reason I would like to see a new heel team to enter the division with him and the Miz.
Now here is one that could ruffle and few feathers and I know I said this list would be realistic but let me explain why I think it still is.
This pick has the potential to be out dated if Hogan signs a new contract with TNA. But at the time of writing this the Hulkster is out of contract with the ‘Dynamic’ Dixie Carter. I also think this may be Sting’s biggest chance of coming to WWE since 2011 … but that’s a side note and defiantly not at the Rumble.
So Hulk Hogan … from what we have seen from his run in the impact zone is people remember Hogan but he can’t draw a dime any-more, Except for one night he hasn’t moved things once in his time there. He can’t wrestle any-more, he is in the Hall of Fame, he has a bunch of DVD’s out, so what can Hogan do for WWE? Really if TNA want him he has nothing to leave for, except for people remembering he is still alive, look at RVD on his 2013 WWE return.
So for WWE to sign him this is what I see, you have someone who can go around the world and promote there brand. People do remember his era on top well with Flair looking incapable of doing that role. He comes back get’s one hell of a monster pop … we maybe see him appear every so often and that’s it, he isn’t a big time player any more – the ship has sailed.
But I have really spent to much time on Hogan …. bottom line it could happen. So no matter how you feel about the man …. I know for one night only at the Rumble if the limelight is only on him for a moment … we will all be Hulkamanic’s one more time, brother!
Jake the Snake Robert
Another old legend who hasn’t been in WWE since he was RKO’d by Randy Orton in 2005. He has been through allot in his life – but thanks to the master of the diamond cutter “it’s me it’s me” DDP he is finally on the right road and it looks like he is staying on it. It’s been talked about allot but for one final night I would like to see the snake slither his way back into the ring, execute a couple DDT’s and then go out gracefully. Or get a massive beat down by the Shield and/or Randy Orton … I would still be happy to see him and so would you.
Now you see my clever get out by saying reappearance. Brrrrrrocccccckkkkkkk Lesssssnaaaarrrrrr!!! He hasn’t been in a Royal Rumber since 2003, which he won by eliminating the Undertaker. I wouldn’t even say Lesnar would win. But coming back and destroying as many people as possible would be fantastic. Brock is a beast and to see something like his destruction on 3MB on a bigger scale would be mayhem.
An animal with pray in the ring, he should have a run much like Kane did in 2001 with elimination after elimination. But how would you get ride of the monster? Because I would go for either Punk or Bryan for a yes Punk – Bryan WWE title match at Wrestlemania 30. It could be an Undertaker BONG! … a Randy Orton/Shield attack to turn him face (hope not) … even a Shamus return and a (mini) battle of the big men or this ……
The lights go out, the fireworks go off and out comes Bill Goldberg. Picture the scene …. Goldberg walks down the ramp, the crowd are going crazy as Brock stands in the ring and then the big men collide. A fight to end all fights …. so brutal that the men end up getting pulled apart or destroy each other. I would like to see it pulled apart, save some of it and build. 2004 Rumble set up their Wrestlemania 20 ‘match’ – do it again. That match was, in my opinion, the worst high profile match in Wrestlemania history. But 10 years later, with everything to prove – make it up to the fans, how good would it be to see these monsters rip each other apart once and for all? Geez, it has to better than Goldberg – Ryback.
