When I became a raw vegan last month, I grew aware of the fact that many individuals who are interested in this type of diet never embrace it because they believe they will have limited, boring food options. It’s a shame that these individuals have drawn this conclusion, because it is false and can ultimately preclude them from eating the types of foods that promote outstanding health such as raw fruits, vegetables, and nuts. In recognizing the fact that many people believe the raw food diet is boring or even unhealthy, I think it’s important to give people information that demonstrates how diverse and nutritious the diet can be. And using grapes as an example is a perfect way to do so given the fact that this fruit is high in manganese, vitamin K, and vitamin C. Here are three unique ways you can eat grapes:
1. By Themselves.
Eating grapes by themselves is a relatively easy thing to do. This morning I bought a bag of purple grapes as well as some ziploc bags that I will put them in after washing. In so doing, I can pop them into my mouth whenever and wherever I want, meaning that they become a highly portable fruit when consumed in this fashion. In addition to being easy to consume when eaten this way, grapes consumed by themselves constitute a monomeal. This form of eating is incredibly healthy, and I go into detail about why in Three Reasons Monomeals Are Good For You.
2. In A Smoothie.
In the past, this has been my preferred method of consuming grapes. Personally, I like to make them with greens like spinach. This is a great way for me to get key vitamins and minerals like vitamin K, folate, and iron. A while ago, I saw a great YouTube Video that explained how to make a grape and kale smoothie. This also sounds appealing to me given that kale provides us with vitamin C, copper, and calcium. There are numerous other ways that you can integrate grapes into a smoothie, such as with fruits like bananas or apples.
3. With Your Salad.
Last month I added grapes to a spinach salad and I noticed that the taste improved substantively. If your salad is composed of dark leafy greens which are probably not that sweet, grapes can add a sweet flavor that makes the overall taste of the salad very appealing and almost dessert-like. There are a ton of great spinach salad recipes on the internet, and you can play around with various ones to determine which of them earns the approval of your taste buds.
As made plain by the information listed above, there are a variety of great ways that you can eat your grapes. The forms described above should definitely preclude you from becoming bored with eating them. Good luck! :)
