As I continue to experience the benefits of following a raw vegan diet, I find it necessary to continue learning more and more about the nutritional properties of healthy food. Doing so functions as a constant reminder that the diet I have chosen is healthy while also enabling me to provide others with sound information regarding why I eat a high volume of fruit. Although there are a wide variety of fruits that an individual could eat in order to boost their health, consuming the kiwi can be uniquely beneficial. Here are three reasons why:
1. Vitamin C.
In discussing the health benefits of kiwi, WHFoods notes that each fruit contains 120% of the daily recommended allowance of vitamin C. The health benefits of vitamin C are diverse and include things such as prevention of eye disease, immune system deficiencies, prenatal health problems, skin wrinkling and cardiovascular disease.
The fact that kiwi contains fiber should be enough to encourage everyone to eat it. As many health experts know, the majority of Americans do not take in the 25-30 grams of fiber that we are supposed to consume daily. Each piece of kiwi contains 8% of the daily recommended allowance of fiber, thereby providing us with several wonderful health benefits. One of the most significant is its ability to aid our digestive processes by facilitating elimination. Additionally, fiber promotes feelings of satiety, a factor which can preclude us from overeating and thereby curtail obesity.
As many health experts know, kiwi contains reputable amounts of potassium. To be precise, each piece of the fruit comes with 6.4% of the daily recommended allowance of potassium. This is wonderful given that potassium offers us a plethora of health benefits. In listing the health benefits of potassium, WebMD notes that it helps our muscles contract, maintains normal blood pressure, and aids in fluid balance. Additionally, normal potassium levels enable our hearts to beat regularly. Finally, potassium may play a role in reducing our susceptibility to kidney stone development and bone loss.
Although the kiwi is not a fruit that I eat often, it probably should be. The wide variety of wonderful health benefits it offers would help me attain my goal of obtaining optimal health. I think it could aid you in this process as well. Happy eating! :)
