Recently, I began a juice fast which has been mentally and physically beneficial for me. Although I tried a wide variety of juices, I purchased three liters of a juice called Yoga 1 which contains lemon. In researching lemons, I have discovered that they offer us a wide variety of health benefits. Here are three of them:
1. Liver Stimulation.
Although many people are aware that eating or drinking lemons aids in the beautification process, they often don’t know why. Here’s the reason: lemons aid in liver stimulation. In discussing the health benefits of lemons, the Huffington Post says this very thing upon noting that “Lemon helps the liver to dump toxins by stimulating its natural enzymes.” They go on to point out that this activity promotes health and aids in keeping the skin clear.
2. Vitamin C.
As many health experts know, lemons contain an ample amount of vitamin C-about 51% of the daily recommended allowance. This is important since vitamin C does a lot of wonderful things within our bodies. In discussing the health benefits of vitamin C, WebMD notes that some of them include “protection against immune system deficiencies, cardiovascular disease, prenatal health problems, eye disease, and even skin wrinkling.” Vitamin C also comes with a great beauty boost-it helps keep our skin evenly toned.
One lemon provides us with 6% of the daily recommended allowance of fiber. This is very important since the majority of Americans do not consume the 25-30 grams of fiber we are supposed to each day. Fiber offers our bodies many benefits, and one of them includes aiding our digestive processes by facilitating the elimination process. Additionally, fiber promotes feelings of fullness, a factor which can help us reach satiety faster and thereby preclude us from overeating. When this happens, we are less likely to pack on the extra pounds that can lead to obesity.
Although I will probably never eat a lemon in its whole form, I am happy to note that I can attain all of the wonderful benefits provided by the fruit by including it in the juices I drink. You can also attain all of the aforementioned health benefits that I’ve listed by drinking juices that contain lemons. In so doing, you will make a great stride towards optimal wellness that enables you to lead a much more productive life. Good luck! :)
