Want to update the bathroom to make it a bit more fanciful? Sometimes the problem with your bathroom is the color. All that white can be a bit sterile. Nothing like thinking you are inside a hospital to give you the blues. The nice thing about adding a splash of color to the bathroom is that the bill will be significantly less abusive and intrusive upon your standard of living than a hospital bill.
Toilets
Here is an interior decorating tip that goes unheeded in the bathrooms of most homes in America. You can paint a toilet. Ceramic is quite easily painted, in fact. And, let’s face the facts at last, shall we? The toilet is one of the last bastions of rebellion left in America. Heck, there are probably more 50 year old mothers of two whose skin is painted in a colorful detail than the number of toilets with such expression. If you really want to add some dazzling color that takes away from the overarching sterility of whiteness that dominates the “library” in most houses. Go wild. Don’t just paint your toilet, smother in bold, vibrant colors that take the breath away from first time visitors.
Decorative Tub Tile
Tubs have made it into the 20th century world of color a bit more successfully than toilets. It is easier to find a tub that is not white than a commode, but even there the colors tend to be muted. A relatively inexpensive way to deal with the surrounding white blandness of the tub area is to strip away the existing-white-tile and replace with highly decorative tile. Understand, I’m not talking about just plain tile in a more vibrant color. I’m not talking about replacing all the tile. For probably pretty close to what it would cost to replace all the white tile hovering over the tub you can instead invest in some extremely complex tiles that not only add great color but artwork on a much smaller scale. The greater the complexity of the tile, the fewer you actually need to use to make a dramatic impact.
Fixtures
If you haven’t been shopping for bathroom fixtures in some time, you might be surprised at the choice of colors. These days it is easy to add the hue of vibrancy to your bathroom by buying, say, a red sink faucet. Or lime green towel holders. Do the research and every little fixture known to the world of bathrooms can be found available in the color of your choice. As long as you don’t have some weird kind of favorite color like sunburned tiger stripes. And even if you do…well, who knows? The point is that you can add flashes of very vivacious color at varied spots throughout the bathroom by going for colorful fixtures.
