I am currently transitioning into a juice fast and I’m very excited. To prepare for the fast, I purchased some of my favorite juices from Arden’s Garden today and have only been eating super healthy food like apples and cucumbers so my system won’t be shocked by the transition. In recognizing the fact that juice fasting is a great way to detoxify the system and thereby promote great health, I want to ensure that other people who undergo a juice fast are successful in their endeavors. Unfortunately, there are various behaviors we can engage in that will preclude us from having success on a juice fast. Here are three:
1. You Didn’t Plan.
As with any other aspect of life, our ability to accomplish a goal is often contingent upon whether or not-and to what extent-we plan. As mentioned earlier, I ate transition foods and purchased the juices I need for my juice fast prior to Day 1, which is tomorrow. Your planning process may not be the same as mine, but you need to have one in place. Whether it’s buying enough fruits and vegetables to make juice that will last for the duration of the fast the night before or asking your spouse to cease preparing your favorite cooked foods for breakfast, devising and implementing a planning process can be of great help to you when you decide to do a juice fast. When you don’t plan, things become very touch and go, you lose focus, and your frustration regarding the lack of planning oftentimes entails eating unhealthy foods to cope with your irritation.
2. You Don’t Have A Support System.
No matter how strong you are as an individual, attaining help from an individual who supports what you’re doing can make you even stronger. Personally, I am preparing to juice fast by myself. Nevertheless, I am watching YouTube videos with individuals who offer expert advice and encouragement regarding juice fasting in order to attain the support that I need. Your support doesn’t have to come from an individual who is also juice fasting, but it does need to come from an individual who believes in the importance of what you are doing and will not undermine you through teasing, temptations through food, etc. In order to be successful on your juice fast, learn as much as you can about the power of support systems.
3. You Haven’t Cleaned Out Your Pantry.
Although some people can complete a juice fast while leaving all the non-juice food in the pantry and refrigerator, everyone cannot. In some cases, the reality of food being in the refrigerator and pantry is just too tempting for some people and they find themselves wandering into the kitchen and consuming products that cause their detoxification process to come to a halt. If you know that you are likely to eat foods that are unhealthy if they are in your vicinity, be sure to give them away or store them in someone else’s house until your juice fast is complete.
While juice fasting can be one of the most rewarding endeavors you undertake, there are strategies that you should definitely consider implementing to make sure that you succeed. By considering the tips I’ve listed above, you can increase the likelihood that you accomplish all the goals you establish for your juice fast. Good luck! :)
