Several months ago, I started two blogs (The Political Slant and Seven Atlanta). This entrepreneurial effort revivified my love for being in business for myself and-in addition to thinking up ways to make the blogs better-I have a manuscript under review. When my editor completes the review, I will publish it as an eBook and eventually generate revenue from it by advertising the work on my blog. The fact that I can accomplish all this meaningful work without being employed by another individual makes me incredibly happy. If you are also inclined towards entrepreneurial efforts and are in search of strategies that will make you effective in your pursuit of an independently owned business, you may benefit from implementing the following tips and tricks:
1. Be Serious About What You’re Doing.
In discussing why it’s important to be serious about what you’re doing, James Stephenson states that
“You cannot expect to be effective and successful in business unless you truly believe in your business and in the goods and services that you sell.” Although the term “serious” can be defined broadly, it basically means being earnest and sincere about a matter. In order to have success with your business, you need to take it seriously so others can understand that the products and services you’re offering are valuable. When I advertise my products by tweeting links to my articles, I do so with confidence that the information I’m offering people is meaningful and will contribute positively to their lives in a significant way.
2. Plan Everything.
This is a skill I have become effective in utilizing lately. To be successful in my career as a freelance writer, I have identified a target number of articles that I want to publish weekly as well as how many of this target number I wish to complete each day. I also plan to publish a minimum of two eBooks per year, and I have a basic understanding of the fees I will pay to have the works edited. By planning in this way, I have a map of how to get from point A to B as well as a yardstick through which I can determine how successful my established objectives were in helping me obtain my ultimate goal of garnering commercial and cultural success. Your business will likely be much different from mine, but the principle remains equally effective. In short, planning makes you more effective in building your business.
3. Become An Expert In Your Field.
This is something that I’m working on very diligently right now. I am currently studying to take an exam that will qualify me to become a Group Fitness Instructor. Once I take and pass that exam, I will take another certification exam in order to become a personal trainer. I am also in the habit of writing several articles every week regarding health and nutrition such as Three Ways To Stay Healthy Throughout The Holidays. All of this activity is advantageous for me because it’s expanding my knowledge about my chosen career field, health and fitness. Irrespective of what business you’re in, becoming an expert in it can be advantageous given that people will look to you as a valid source of information and advice. This will create more opportunities to generate revenue for yourself as people will likely want to buy the products and services you offer.
I am personally persuaded that anyone who wants to be an entrepreneur can experience profound success in building a business if they have the right tools and strategies. By implementing some or all of the strategies outlined above, I think you’ll be on your way to profound success in your chosen field. Good luck! :)
