Following tradition, Marlene King dropped multiple bombs on Pretty Little Liars fans last night during the season three finale. If you look at an aerial shot of Rosewood that town must look like a land mine considering how many bombs it has endured since the show began. Three huge revelations from last night have created a frenzy among Spoby supporters. (In case you’re wondering what a “Spoby” is, it’s the nick-name for the infamous relationship between main characters Toby Cavanaugh and Spencer Hastings.)
Toby Cavanaugh Is Alive.
PLL fans have speculated for the last three episodes whether or not Toby (Keegan Allen) is still among the living. In “Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind,” Spencer discovered a body in the forest. She assumed the body was her ex-boyfriend Toby’s considering it was wearing his clothes and had an identical tattoo as Toby. However, the body was wearing a helmet, and she didn’t remove the helmet and look at the corpse’s face. This incident caused Spencer to go into shock, and be placed in Radley Sanitarium. While she was in Radley, police discovered two bodies in the forest where Spencer seen Toby, but neither were positively identified as him (Rosewood police were still waiting for autopsy reports). Last night on the finale it was revealed that Mona Vanderwaal (Janel Parrish) staged the entire thing and Toby Cavanaugh is alive! On the down side, there are still two dead people we have yet to learn the identity of.
Toby Was A Double-Agent.
Jaws dropped around the world during last three seconds of the Halloween special “This Is a Dark Ride,” when Mona’s partner in crime was finally revealed and it was none other than Spencer’s boyfriend Toby Cavanaugh. While some Spoby fans jumped off the sinking ship, others held on tight with the notion that he was a double-agent and only joined the A-Team to help Spencer and her friends. Fans cringed when Spencer realized her lover had betrayed her and joined the A-Team, and began her downward spiral. Last night it was revealed that Toby was indeed working as a double-agent and had joined the A-Team to try to save Spencer and her friends, he claims that everything he did was for her. How romantic!
Although the episode left viewers with multiple unanswered questions (of course it’s PLL), Spoby fans finally got a good night’s sleep because all was well in Spoby-Land. Spencer and Toby hid in a secluded motel and professed their love for each other. When they were done kissing and making up, they blessed their devoted fans with another one of their steamy and infamous, “Spoby sex-scenes.” Well, as steamy as it can get on ABC Family.
