Top 10 Songs by Bruno Mars

by fat vox

Bruno Mars, who performed at the halftime show of Super Bowl XLVIII, has a number of great songs.

To celebrate the singing career of Bruno Mars, the following list includes his 10 best songs.

Honorable mentions for this list are the songs “Young Girls” and “Moonshine.”

“Count on Me”

One of Mars’ greatest songs is “Count on Me.” This song, which was released as part of his first album Doo-Wops & Hooligans, has many memorable lines. In my opinion, the best line of the song is, “If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea, I’ll sail the world to find you.” Like all of the songs by Bruno Mars, this song is not short on sweet (maybe corny) lines. An interesting fact about this song is that it was sung by Mars during an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“Gorilla”

This song that was released in 2013 is another one of the best songs by the American singer. Despite receiving only mixed reviews, the song has been a commercial success. It has even been on the US Billboard Hot-100 list, with a peak position of 22. The song does have some offensive lyrics, so listeners should be considerate of this before listening to the song.

“Grenade”

Along with receiving positive reviews from music critics, the song “Grenade” has also received numerous nominations and awards. In fact, the song was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2012 Grammy Awards. Unfortunately for Mars, the song lost out to Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.” It has also been extremely popular in many areas of the world, especially in the United States. The song has actually reached best-song status on the US Billboard Hot-100 list.

“It Will Rain”

“It Will Rain” has also been listed on the same list, ranking as high as number three. The song was released on September 27, 2011, and was even featured on the soundtrack of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Part of the success for the song may be because the lyrics feel heartfelt. For instance, the line “Cause there’ll be no sunlight if I lose you, baby,” sounds like it is from the heart of the singer. Indeed, it is a very popular song that has captured the musical interest of many Americans.

“Just the Way You Are”

Another song that is charming is the 2010 song “Just the Way You Are.” This song, which has been performed by numerous singers, reached top-status on the US Billboard Top-40 list, along with many other lists. On an interesting note, Mars sung this song to millions of fans across the country when he performed at Super Bowl XLVIII. This was the last of his three songs that he sang, which was a smart move on his part as the song is incredibly popular.

“The Lazy Song”

“The Lazy Song,” which was released on February 15, 2011 as one of the songs of his first album, has also been well-liked by critics and fans. Although it was never reached the number-one status on the Top 40 Billboard list, it did manage to be the fourth best song on the list. It does have some suggestive lyrics, but in general the song is a fun one to listen to due to its light nature.

“Locked Out of Heaven”

Another one of Bruno Mars’ best songs is his song “Locked Out of Heaven,” which was released on his 2012 album Unorthodox Jukebox. This song has also been widely popular; in fact, it was the number one song on the Billboard Hot-100 list for six weeks. It also received critical success, as it was nominated for Song of the Year at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. The song eventually lost to Lorde’s “Royals.” Although this song did not receive the award, the success of the song has cemented Mars’ reputation for being one of the best young singers in the world.

“Marry You”

Released as one of the songs on his debut album, “Marry You” has had some success. The song has never been one of the top-50 songs on the US Billboard Hot 100, but it has lyrics that are enjoyable for listening. For example, a line that deserves to be noted is “It’s a beautiful night, we’re looking for something dumb to do. Hey baby, I think I want to marry you.” With lines like these, I am frankly surprised that the song did not reach top status on the Hot-100 list.

“Treasure”

Also released on the album Unorthodox Jukebox, “Treasure” has done well both commercially and critically. The song has been on the US Billboard Hot-100 list, ranking as high as number five. It has received a number of positive reviews, including from Ryan Reed of Paste Magazine. In the words of Reed, “”Treasure” is stripper-theme funk-pop with gooey synth pads and enormous slap-bass fills that punch through like air-humps.” Many critics, including Jody Rosen of Rolling Stone magazine, also compared the song to one that Michael Jackson or Prince would sign.

“When I Was Your Man”

The final song on this list of Bruno Mars’ best song is “When I Was Your Man.” This song, like many of his songs, has been very popular. It was even nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, eventually losing to Lorde’s “Royals.”

On a final note, Bruno Mars is not only incredibly talented, but he is also young. On October 8, 2014,the pop singer will turn 29-years-old. He has many bright years ahead of him, and I believe that he will continue to release great music.
