Living with ADHD is a daily struggle. Today, this struggle is getting easier. Internet has made it possible to seek help and information from people around the world. Much of this information is from people living with ADHD. Many forums are now dedicated to the topic of ADHD. I have listed the top 5 ADHD forums that I personally use.
ADHD Forum #1: ADD Forums
ADD Forums is not a flashy website. In fact, it is built off of a basic vBulletin template. However, quality content does not require a fancy website. ADD Forums provides help on topics such as Adults with ADD, Adult Diagnosis & Treatment, Non-ADD Partner Support, and Careers/Job Impact. ADD Forums provides support from other people living with ADHD.
ADHD Forum #2: ADHD and Marriage
Marriage can be very difficult with ADHD. ADHD often causes us to misinterpret social ques. We may even miss them altogether. In a close relationship, not catching the subtle messages, from your partner, can cause serious complications. ADHD and Marriage addresses these issues directly.
ADHD and Marriage was created by Melissa Orlove & Dr. Ned Hallowell. Two highly respected ADHD practitioners. They have created a forum that provides extensive advice for anyone with ADHD. At the time of this writing, ADHD and Marriage Forum had over 2000 topics. They address many areas that are thorns in the side of anyone with ADHD including; “Anger Frustration & ADHD”, “Progress You Are Making and Hope”, and “Conflicts Around Household Tasks”.
ADHD Forum #3: ADDitude Mag
ADDitude Magazine is one of the preeminent ADHD magazines. They are dedicated to helping people with ADHD. Because of this large following, this forum draws hundreds, if not thousands, of users. This provides anyone with ADHD, anyone who knows someone with ADHD, or anyone wanting to know anyone with ADHD a large pool of people to learn from.
ADDitude Mag’s Forum topics cover a large range of topics. “Parenting Help” provides information on everything from how to deal with children with ADHD to new products for children with ADHD. You can get a guide to ADHD symptoms. You can get specific help for Adults living with ADHD. You can even get career help. No matter what ADHD problem you are trying to solve, this forum can provide assistance.
ADHD Forum #4: Psych Central
Psych Central is not just an ADHD website. They provide information on a variety of mental health issues. Usually, I am drawn to websites that are dedicated to ADHD. My personal experience has been these draw fewer “ADHD experts” that are full of incorrect information. However, the questions and answers here are very accurate. You can get information on topics such as landlords and ADHD, finding the right medication, ADHD and intuition, driving with untreated ADHD, and even funny ADHD stories.
ADHD Forum #5: Women with ADHD
Not all ADHD forums are meant for everyone. Tara McGillicuddy and Terry Matlen created this forum and it’s accompanying website. Tara McGillicuddy is one of the preeminent ADHD coaches. She also is personally living with ADHD. This forum provides information specifically for moms with ADHD, safety reminders, and you can even find an organizing buddy.
