I’ve struggled with sensitive skin for years, as a teen. I didn’t realize that just because the label says it’s for “all skin types” that it would be for my sensitive skin. I really had to go through a lot of types of products to find ones that worked for me. Here are a few that worked great for me.
1. Burt’s Bees Natural Acne Solutions Purifying Gel Cleanser
For my sensitive skin, I really don’t like heavy foaming creams or lots of bubbles. The ingredients used to make these effects always dry out my skin. So, it’s nice to see a gel cleanser marketed for sensitive skin. Burt’s Bees Gel Cleanser uses willow bark extract which is a natural form of salicylic acid, which is really good for clearing up acne. They also use honey, a natural anti-bacterial and glycerin which adds moisture to your skin.
2. Kiss My Face Olive Oil Soap
I really like Kiss My Face soaps and have been using them since I was a teen. They contain pure olive oil, water and sodium chloride which is great. For a fresh face, you don’t need anything else. Also, olive oil is rich in vitamin E, which is great for skin. There are no ingredients, like SLS, to dry out your skin. I used this and it never dried out my skin. However, it may not be for oily skin as it contains moisture-rich ingredients.
3. Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser
This is another gel cleanser that I like. Gel cleansers are really good for sensitive skin because they clean the skin and help it retain its natural moisture but it doesn’t add any oils that might block the pores. This also contains salicylic acid, which is good for acne, and cinnamon bark and ginger root extract, which both have anti-bacterial properties.
4. SkinnySkinny Organic Face Wash
I really like SkinnySkinny’s products because they use all natural and organic ingredients. This wash is jam packed with good ingredients that help sensitive skin. It contains natural anti-bacterial ingredients like coconut oil, rosemary extract, and chamomile essential oil. It also contains moisturizing ingredients like glycerin and olive oil. Aloe vera, which is used, is a really good ingredient because it soothes skin that’s been irritated like most sensitive skin has been.
5. Origins Clean Energy Cleansing Oil
While I’ve said that oil may not be the best thing for skin, I’ll make one exception with this cleansing oil. Cleansing oils are great for sensitive skin because they remove absolutely no oils from dry skin, when it needs it the most. They also contain no ingredients that such irritate the skin, unless there is some unusual allergy. Natural oils haven’t been known to harm oily skin and can even add beneficial properties to help treat the skin. This cleanser contains many of those ingredients including macadamia nut oil, sunflower and olive oils that don’t leave your skin feeling greasy and contain lots of vitamin E.
