Every year people wait to get a peek at the new line up from the auto world. During the past few years it seems as if innovation for style has been at a standstill. We haven’t seen a real change since the early 2000s. We’ve seen everything there is to see, or have we? Here’s some cars to keep an eye out for in 2014, especially for gear heads.
2014 Corvette
Corvettes have always had a sense of style. The American muscle car has been a symbol of speed and performance since the 1950s when the first Corvette rolled off the assembly line. The 2014 Corvette was unveiled in January 2013 to media outlets, though the full specs had not been released. We now know that the newest addition to the Corvette line has a very impressive 450lb of torque, 450 horse power, and a 6.2 liter LT1 V8 small block engine.
Those that love power won’t be disappointed in the 2014 Corvette’s ability to go from 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds. There’s rumors that the top speed of this powerhouse nudges 200 mph. Chevy has also stated that this Corvette will have a mpg of over 26, though the company has not revealed the exact number for city or highway mpg.
2014 Acura MDX
A new version of the current MDX, the 2014 incarnation will boast a lighter frame, a new Integrated Dynamic System for steering, and 290 horsepower. The current MDX has 16/27 city/highway mpg, but the 2014 MDX will have 20/28 city/highway mpg in the front wheel drive version. The MDX is a darling among those that love great handling and the 2014 MDX promises to continue earning high marks for even better performance.
2014 Toyota Corolla
The 2014 Corolla is a new take on an old favorite. A sexy new front end, more power and an impressive new EPA certified 28/37 city/highway mpg is enough to turn heads. There are a few versions of the Corolla, the L, LE, S, and the LE Eco. As with many other cars that have been released in the past few years, the newest line of Corollas will have basic Bluetooth connectivity. All will have 8 airbags for increased safety.
2014 Kia Sorento
Kia has a long list of great cars and the new 2014 Kia Sorento has more to it than the lightly redesigned outside. The inner workings have increased handling, added power, and safety. The Sorento has two seating options available for purchase, the three row or two row layout. While the three row does add more seating, Kelly Blue Book reports that people who need to carry 6 or 7 passengers and more than a few extra items might not be satisfied with the Sorento 3 row. Comfort has been upgraded and reviewers throughout the media have reported that the Sorento ranks highly in comfort for long drives. Kelly Blue Book reviews consistently rank the Sorento above a 7.0 out of 10 in all areas from driving dynamics to comfort.
