A mouse is a very adoring, cute, small and intelligent creature. With minimal efforts, it makes a very good pet. I own a pet mouse named Macy, he (Because I treats him like my son… my only son – Lovely Macy) recently celebrated his first birthday on September 1st. He is given to me as a gift by my soul mate. From the experience of past one year following are the top reasons to have a mouse as a pet-
Mice are very intelligent creatures, If properly trained they can surprise you by their intelligence. For instance, my mouse Macy knows his favorite teddy bear in the bed and runs to hide behind it; if I open his cage’s gate when he’s inside the cage, he comes out only when he wants and goes inside the cage automatically. He knows his room and runs towards his room if left in different room.
They can be with you in your bed too!!
Unlike big doggies and cats with lots of furs, mouse can be with you in your bed with little fuss. In daytime, my mouse rests by my side in my bed. As mouse is a nocturnal animal, it rests majorly in the day, so it’s easy to let it sleep in your bed. Believe me… it’s such a nice feeling to have your pet animal sleeping besides you, just like your baby.
The cost for bringing up a pet mouse is very less and they are available for much lesser price than cats and dogs. They can be brought up even by students living in boarding and hostels. Their cage and other accessories don’t cost much. Their food also don’t cost hefty, as they are so small, they don’t need to eat as much as a cat. So mice are not heavy on your pocket!!
They require less care
Mice are small animals which require very less care. They are very clean animals (contrary to their popular image of being dirty), they spend huge amount of time (even larger than cats) on grooming themselves so they needs very less bath. The problem of smell is when your mouse is afraid of something or when its cage is not cleaned once in a week. They are not demanding, whatever you’ll give them, they will more than happily eat it.
ya!! Mice are too sweet by nature. My mouse never bit me; even if I put my fingers between his teeth he doesn’t bite me at all. If you handle them with love and care they’ll never harm you. Mice bite only when they are afraid. They can sit on your hand, your shoulder and even on your head!! My mouse sometimes sits adjacent to my computer’s mouse when I am working on my PC; it’s such a funny site!!! A pet mouse can keep you entertained for hours.
Can be carried anywhere, just like in Home Alone-3
you must have watched Home Alone-3 in which the little boy Kevin used to take his pet mouse with him inside his camera’s case. Mice are so small that they can be taken anywhere with you. Recently I went to my grandfather’s home by bus; I took my Macy mouse with me also. I put him in cage with his food and put that cage in an open bag. The Macy-and-me duo completed the both way journey successfully. This is the advantage of pet mouse over a pet dog or cat.
