All real Americans love the taste of a true Classic American Hamburger (Also known as the Classic American Route 66 Hamburger).
All real Americans, love Top’s Hamburgers.
Tops is a classic American Hamburger stand where Real Americans and tourists come to stand and eat burgers. It is a patriotic standard bearer in a forest of modern sandwich shops that peddle tasteless sandwich simulations with an ounce or two of sandwich meat-like substance in a pound or two of bread facsimile . It is famous worldwide and has even been featured in a short story about the fictional Rose Houston. I myself came all the way from Kabul, Afghanistan, on R&R to eat there. And, by the way, the service is world class, too.
At Tops, hamburger patties are handmade, hand seasoned and grilled to perfection on a hot iron grill. The hamburger buns are toasted on that same hot iron grill in the hot hamburger juices that flow from the sizzling hamburger patties-juices that flow over and around your tongue, when you bite into a freshly grilled patty and caress it like a fervent lover.
They use fresh, crisp lettuce that has not wilted from sitting on the counter or being exposed on a shelf in the refrigerator all day and they use fresh sliced tomatoes and fresh sliced onions. The french fries are freshly sliced and fried to a delightful crispness on the outside and a steamy earthy flavor on the inside with just the right amount of salt.
Hmmmmm Hmmmmm! Lip smackin’ good!
Tops has a classic American hamburger stand standard menu: hamburgers, cheese burgers, double hamburgers, double cheese burgers, hot dogs, Chicago dogs, chili dogs, chili cheese dogs, French fries, tater tots, Coca Cola (the real thing), Sweet Tea, and fresh milkshakes. It is a full service Classic American Hamburger Stand with a drive through window and an outside menu. Please see the accompanying photo of the drive through menu.
Tops has been in business in the same location for several decades. It is located at 401 E Cervantes St, Pensacola, FL 32501, on the edge of the Greater Pensacola Ghetto and one block from the Police Department. It is open 11:00am through 7:00pm, Monday through Saturday and 11:00am through 4:00pm on Sundays. It is also situated cattycorner from an old Circle K wino supply store that inexplicably went out of business and a modern coffee shop/restaurant that required two years to build and less than one year to go out of business. It’s hard to miss because, not only is it the only building in town with a big sign that says “Tops Hamburgers” is also the only building on that intersection with a sign like that.
They do not accept reservations or call ahead orders and they do not sell alcoholic beverages. Even though some of the residents of the Greater Pensacola Ghetto and other souls adrift are occasionally seen imbibing unknown substances from brown paper sacks in the parking lot, it is generally not permitted. This is a pro law and order community and the local police offices, all good Southern Boys and/or former United States Sailors, have been specially trained to be suspicious of the contents of brown paper bags that wino’s are drinking from. Bottom line here is-DO NOT BYOB either.
That’s the way it is in America today-Tops Hamburgers is the place to go for world class Classic American Hamburgers.
