A new and very fun trend has started with what happens to wedding dresses after the ceremony. Couples are posting pics all over the internet destroying their dresses and tuxedos for art. Brides sometimes spend thousands on their dress and here they are pouring paint all over them, ripping them up, even dunking them into the sea for the sake of memorable artwork. Is this a cheap way to dispose of the dress or is it the new chic fabulous? I’ve got five unique and beautiful ways to trash that dress while keeping it classy.
Sure, when you think of weddings, most just think of how expensive it’s going to be. While the bride obsesses with the arrangements and most of all…the dress. Now, as couples are starting to get married younger and younger, it seems art is taking over. Part of the wedding planning has become planning the “trashing” of the bride’s dress. The most popular ways to go about this include: setting the dress on fire, diving into the ocean, throwing some paint on it, and maybe even shooting some paintball. Maybe those aren’t exactly the most romantic ways to go about it, but it’s definitely visually beautiful.
If you’re looking for a way to trash your dress after the wedding, but would also like a keepsake out of it, here’s a couple of suggestions. I know it sounds horrible, but why not cut the dress into pieces and use the invites, party favors, and photos to create a memorable scrapbook that can be passed down for generations? Another option is to put the dress on a canvas and instead of painting it while the bride is still wearing it, she can paint it with her groom for a lovely piece of wall art for your living room. These two suggestions are obviously for those who are artistically inclined, but not to worry, there are more adventurous ways to go about it.
For those thrill seekers out there, why not take your newly married selves up in a plane and jump out of it? That was not a cynical remark, I promise. Sky diving is recreational, adventurous fun at its best. If you have a photographer that’s brave and willing to go with you, jumping while still dressed for the occasion could be remarkably beautiful. Want to stay somewhat on more solid ground? You don’t have to jump out of a plane, you could simply jump off of a bridge with your honey in your arms…and with a bungee cord attached to the both of you, of course. If your destination for bungee jumping happens to be over water? Even better, because then you get the romantic water shot that seems to be the favorite as well as the daredevil feel to impress your friends.
Lastly, for those who want something that can be revisited, maybe something more than a picture. How about videotaping the dress being altered? Instead of the norm, taking pictures making the dress dirty, why not make it something relevant to the future? Whether you do it yourself, or hire someone to do it, you can videotape the dress being modified for a little one in your future or even saving it to be modified into your teen’s prom dress? The possibilities are limitless when the imagination is put hard to work. Don’t forget that the custom is to post whatever it is you create onto the internet, usually to your Facebook page…it’ll be fun to think about, at any rate.
