Two Botanical Makeup Brands Worth Trying

by fat vox

Today, we live in a world that has become completely saturated in toxins. Even all of the mainstream cosmetic and personal care products contain toxins, and very few ingredients that go into cosmetics and personal care products, sadly, are regulated by the FDA. The FDA only monitors and prohibits certain drugs and color additives from being used in cosmetics and personal care products. There are those among us who are becoming more aware of what’s being marketed and are rebelling against the mainstream market by finding our own healthy choices. One type of healthy cosmetic product being offered that’s worthy of looking into is cosmetics made mostly of organic botanical ingredients, as well as some minerals.

Vapour Organic Beauty: The Vapour Organic Beauty makeup line is made out of nothing more than certified organic botanical extracts, essential oils, and some minerals. The line was created by Krysia Boinis and Kristine Keheley who designed the Vapour Organic foundation prototype. Eric Sakas, looking for a new, modern, effective makeup line to launch fell in “love at first sight” with the Vapour Organics prototype. He described the foundation formula as feeling “light-as-air,” plus it “replicated the look of dewy, youthful skin like nothing [he’d] ever seen.” More importantly, not only do the founders praise the line, so do the consumers. Due to the organics and essential oils, all of their products are antiaging, contain antioxidants, and even out skin tone and texture.

Vapour Organic Beauty offers a full line of cosmetics, all in cream formulas. They offer two types of foundations and primers that are geared towards specific skin types, though all formulas are perfect for sensitive skin. Their liquid foundation is called the Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation and is especially geared towards those with either normal, combination, or oily skin; it’s especially great for oily skin. If you have more dry or mature skin, you may want to go with their Atmosphere Luminous Foundation, which is actually a cream stick formula as opposed to a liquid formula like the other. Even if you have normal or combination skin, you may want to give their Atmosphere Luminous Foundation cream stick formula a try depending on what amount of coverage or finish you want. Their Atmosphere Soft Focus liquid foundation gives a soft satin finish and medium or full coverage, while their Atmosphere Luminous Foundation cream stick formula gives lighter, medium coverage and a finish that is glowing but not shiny. Customers praise both foundation formulas, saying how moisturizing both foundations feel and how they make skin feel silky and soft. Consumers also praise the foundations for making their skin look absolutely flawless without making them look like they are wearing makeup. The makeup truly makes you look like you are wearing nothing but your own, flawless skin.

Other products worthy of looking into are the two primer formulations Vapour Organic Beauty offers to pair with the foundations. Both primers are actually 3-in-1 products; they are moisturizers, primers, and even colorless foundations all in one. One could leave the house wearing just the primer if one wanted to. The primers are called the Stratus Soft Focus Instant Skin Perfector and the Stratus Original Skin Perfector, and, just like the foundations, they come in either liquid or cream stick formulas and are geared more towards either oily/normal skin or dry/mature/normal skin respectively.

All of Vapour Organic Beauty’s products have nearly the exact same ingredients list, including their cream blushes, lipsticks, and cream eyeshadows, and those ingredients include organic seed oils, such as camellia, sunflower, and pumpkin; other organic ingredients, such as beeswax, elderberry fruit extract, and papaya; further ingredients, like lotus leaf extract, fruit essences, and essential oils; and minerals like mica, iron oxides, and titanium dioxide.

One negative side to the product is that, while they only use a tiny amount of the essential oils as to keep the essential oils from being overwhelming, those who are extra sensitive to scents may find the smell of the essential oils bothersome. However, you can purchase with peace of mind as they do offer samples of every single one of their products. For $15, you can purchase 5 samples of your choice, and, with this $15 sample kit, they offer a $10 coupon you can use towards any purchase you choose. Also, the products are only available online, and some customers may find choosing a foundation color online a bit intimidating. But there is no need for consumers to even fear that problem, as they have excellent customer service and invite you to upload your photo so that their beauty specialists can help you choose the right foundation color for you; then, simply purchase the sample, try it out, and you’re all set.

Zosimos Botanicals: While the Vapour Organic Beauty company certainly offers some amazing products, the products can be a bit pricy, even if they are well worth the price. For those of you health-conscientious consumers who are interested in acquiring more holistic makeup products but have to do it on a tight budget, you may want to try Zosimos Botanicals. Zosimos Botanicals is a small business privately owned by Linda Stein and based in Maryland. Stein specializes in producing hand-crafted makeup that’s completely free of parabens, “synthetic chemicals and other toxins.” Stein is dedicated to making safe, vegan, and environment-friendly cosmetics.

While she does offer some loose mineral products, she also offers a lot of organic botanical products, such as primer, concealer, eyeshadow base, cream eyeshadow, many shades of lip & cheek tint, a wide range of lipstick and lip gloss shades, as well as a range of organic botanical skin care products, such as antiaging eye creams, antioxidant moisturizing skin creams, facial masks, body butters, and body oils. She even offers a full line of organic bath, body, and hair care products. All ingredients, except for the loose minerals are fully organic. For example, the ingredients list for the lip & cheek tint is organic jojoba seed oil, organic avocado oil, and organic pomegranate seed oil, as well as wild-crafted Candelilla wax, castor wax, and mica.

You are definitely purchasing a lovely, quality product for the fairly inexpensive prices, but shop with peace of mind because she, too, offers samples of every product. Samples can be purchased at a range of $3 to $5 dollars per product.
