Ultimate Pursuit of Happiness
20 Tips to Change Your Life
So you want to be more happy and you believe that happiness is a your goal. Happiness is not a goal; it’s a state of mind. Only you can make yourself feel happy by changing your thinking and creating happiness for yourself. Stay Curious! Try To Do 1 Tip Every day and Have Fun!
- 1. Learn To Love Yourself
Spent all your time taking care of family members? Kids? Boyfriend? Doing late hours at work coz you couldn’t say no? It’s time to get back to basics, to you! Arrange serious YOU time. Go on a shopping spree alone, have lunch, get a massage or manicure. Go for a swim. Whatever you love doing go do it!
Every time you do someone ‘a big favour’ take a day out and do something for yourself. This way you will always be balanced between others needs and your own.
- 2. Do Not Multi-Task
How is running around and doing million things at once going to make you happy? Especially if you don’t complete them. Try not to multi-task but to spread out time out instead. Focus on one thing for a certain time then move on to another if you have to. But completing a task is more satisfying then doing 3 things at once and not completing anything.
- 3. Do Something New
Do something you haven’t done before. Or even take a different route to work, try a new restaurant or bar or buy something you wouldn’t usually buy. Any little change can dramatically make your day better and more interesting.
- 4. Let Go Of The Past
The past is the past you can’t change it. If you dwell on things that already happened you will not be able to live in the present. Forgive yourself and forget about it! Focus on the present by examining your surroundings and feeling emotions at the moment they are happening. Forget what happened, think about trees, what you’re doing today or even how to make a cake. Basically something to bring you back into the present.
- 5. Meditate
Meditation is a great way to release stress, thoughts and tension and develop compassion. Start with breathing exercises. Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight so you’re alert. Start breathing deeply and slowly and focus on your breathing and how the air goes in and out of your lungs. After you feel that you are calm and focused on your breathing start to notice the thoughts that come into your head, do not dwell or dismiss them. Notice them and let go and watch the next thought enter your mind. Do this every day for 20minutes.
- 6. Watch What You Eat
Constantly eating the same foods and processed foods clogs up the body which bring on negative feelings while the body is trying to deal with the extra toxins. Make small changes to create health and healing for the body.
- – Eat fresh organic food that isn’t over cooked and is full of goodness.
- – Try to eat vegetables raw.
- – Cut out dairy and replace it with oat, soya or almond milks, yogurts and butter.
- – Try to stop eating gluten as its like glue for the interstices.
- 7. Communicate Openly
When you’re pissed off at somebody, let them know. Obviously don’t hit them (unless they actually deserve it) but tell them how you feel. It will blow off some steam and make you feel better in the long run.
- 8. Make Time To Grieve
Personally I hate experiencing pain and as soon as I feel it I try to block it out with some kind of activity which will make me forget about it. Well instead of blocking it out I take an hour every two days or so and think about all the things that are bothering me long and hard. This is great because after you do this your mind is free to think about other happy stuff as you got your worrying out of the way already. Now this applies to every possible pain you can feel from grieving for a lost relate or a badly ended relationship to money problems etc.
- 9. Keep a Journal
Sometimes it helps to write things down. Make a worry list and burn it or keep a journal of how you feel every day, what you tried to do to feel happier and how it made you feel after your set task.
- 10. Organise Your Life
Get rid of all the stuff you need and don’t hold back. When trying to decide what to throw out and keep make three piles keep, throw and reuse/alter. Don’t keep things to that you ‘might need one day’ things are like emotions you have to get rid of them to forget them. Clean up your desk at work also for extra clarity.
- 11. Get Quality Sleep
Get your 6-7 hours of sleep to be ready and refreshed for the next day. If you have time for naps the best time to nap is between 12-4 for half an hour. Do not go to sleep for more than half an hour as it will make you go into deeper sleep and will make you more tired when you have to wake up. Half an hour is all you need for a power nap.
- 12. Laugh
Laughing has been scientifically proven to lower the risk of heart attacks and depression. Go out with friends or watch a favourite comedy film to get laughing!
- 13. Plan Time For Your Hobbies
As a busy woman we have to make time for things rather than wait for free time to pop up. Make time to do things after work or on weekends in the morning. Go for a swim straight after breakfast then carry on with the rest of your day. Do something on Mondays and Wednesday as those are the most boring days of the week.
- 14. Get Used To Uncertainty
Unfortunately life doesn’t come with a guarantee. Things happen sometimes because of previous actions. Even further puzzling things could happen, which we don’t have any control of such as volcanoes. Learning how to handle change is difficult and the best way to approach it is with curiosity, non-attachment and an open mind.
- 15. Dress Like The World Is A Stage
How is wearing the same thing every day then complaining that you don’t have anything to wear going to help you? Dig up your wardrobe for some long lost clothing and experiment every day. You spend hours shopping but take 2 seconds to make dressing decision. Now that’s stupid, wear as much as you can. Change twice a day like a real lady and enjoy. Have fun with fashion! Don’t wear black or grey all the time. Try to add bright colours to black if you have to wear it. The rule that black is slimming is a complete lie.
- 16. Have a Cry
It has been scientifically proven that crying makes you release toxins that are harmful to the body. If you feel to cry Do Not hold it back and you will feel much better after. If you’re angry force yourself to cry to release the tension.
- 17. Do Some Exercise
Exercise not only helps your heart to be healthier but brightens your mood and keeps your mind clear of bad thoughts. Do light exercise such as walking, skipping, yoga, swimming or zumba. Dance is great as not only it’s fun but it will make you the queen of the dance floor.
- 18. Make Love
Did you know that people who orgasm regularly and are in love are less likely to have health issues and heart problems. Yes we said it making love (not having sex with strangers) will keep you healthier. Find someone you really care about, that understands you and loves you. Don’t go around just having sex that wouldn’t help you feel happier or healthier.
- 19. Celebrate Everything
This is my personal Favorite that I always follow. Celebrate everything. Life is already dull and the only way to make it fun is by you organizing time to have the fun. Did you get a raise? Go celebrate! Is your friends business doing really well? Celebrate that! I’m Buddhist but I like to celebrate every religious holiday possible. That way I can respect and learn about other religions also. Bottom line is who doesn’t love a good celebration and it should never be restricted to birthdays!
- 20. Get Your Dose Of Vitamin D
Did you know that most suntan lotion block out Vitamin D. Hence 70% of the UK been Vitamin D deficient. Instead of suntan lotion use sesame seed oil half an hour before you leave. Get all the Vitamin D you need and get a great tan at the same time!
