Unique and Delicious New Ways to Decorate Frosted Cupcakes

Cupcakes have been around since the 19th century, and they are still gaining in popularity. They are easy to eat since they come in neat little packages, and they can be frosted and decorated in countless ways for birthdays, holidays and even weddings. Many people are opting for cupcake towers instead of traditional wedding cakes. You do not have to shop at a bakery to enjoy decadent and highly impressive individual treats for any occasion. Easy additions can upgrade ordinary frosted cupcakes into visually impressive and delicious desserts, and for much less than those from a bakery.

Top Vanilla Frosting with Caramel and Chopped Green Apple Jellybeans

Ordinary vanilla cupcakes can be transformed into delicious caramel apple treats in a matter of minutes, and they look just as great as they taste. Top swirled vanilla frosting with thick, rich caramel, chopped green apple jellybeans and chopped salted peanuts. Use the caramel sauce that is meant for topping ice cream treats. Simply drizzle it on with a spoon before adding the peanuts and bright green jelly beans. They are phenomenal.

Stick a Rolled Wafer into Each One

Use rolled wafers with filling to decorate frosted cupcakes in a delicious new way. Break them in half or thirds, and stick them just off center through a thick layer of frosting. If the frosting is vanilla, decorate the cupcakes further with dark chocolate curls. If they are frosted with chocolate, opt for white almond bark curls. They will add flavor and visual appeal.

Create Floral Designs with Slivered Almonds and Tiny Gumdrops

Nuts can be used to decorate frosted cupcakes in delicious new ways, and slivered almonds are ideal. As the first photo shows, they can be arranged to create an edible bloom. To make yours even more colorful and delicious than those in the photo, add tiny sliced gumdrops. Create gumdrop centers by slicing them into little circles. They can also be placed in between the almond petals.

Add a Dollop of Another Frosting Flavor and Mini Chips

Another delicious new way to decorate cupcakes is with multiple frosting flavors. Start with chocolate, and add a dollop of thick, rich cream cheese filling in the center. Top the frosting with mini chips in a flavor or a combination of flavors of your choice. Add colorful sprinkles to match the season or occasion. When they are artfully decorated and look fantastic, no one will be able to resist temptation.
