We have heard much about successful business men or women the world has produced, and we go about our daily activities with the thought of becoming successful one day. But, have you ever had a moment to ask yourself what these successful people had to go through to be where they are? One thing for sure, each of those people had to make a lot of decisions in life, which is something we have to go through now and then. Making decisions and sticking with them is something we have to do every day. And what separates achievers and non achievers, is just a simple task of decision making.
Most people do not like making decisions on their own, as they are too scared of the outcome. It is also much easier to be told what to do by another person. Fear and the possibility of what might happen after you have made a certain decision, should not define the person that you are if you seek greatness which is largely a matter of conscious choice and discipline. We can do or achieve anything we want as long as we stick to it long enough and that requires you to put your heart, soul and your whole being behind any decision that you make, reason being your words become empty and every action you undertake turns to be meaningless.
The universe conspires to make your decision a reality once you have made one. A person is required to have balance between his instincts and deliberate thinking. You must be able to swiftly spot any opportunity, be quick to make a decision and initiate your actions immediately so as to achieve your intended goals. This is what defines a successful CEO who has been tasked in defining the course that the business will take over the next five or so years. The CEO has the ability to see what the business environment might be like along way out not just over the coming months and then sets a broad direction and also takes particular decisions along the way that make that broad direction unfold correctly resulting to success of the company.
Making decisions is not an easy process, as it requires a great deal of strength to decide what to do as there has to be some sort of sacrifice that has to me made. You need to have an understanding of what you value most so as to know what you have to let go when faced with a situation that requires you to make a choice. Sometimes you may opt not choosing at all; forgetting that by doing so is a decision by itself that they have made. And the problem that emerges with you sitting on the fence as Margaret Thatcher said is very dangerous since you get hit by the traffic from both sides and those are consequences you have to deal with.
Let us learn to make decision on our own, without any fear of the outcome. Whenever you decide to do something, have a reason behind it and patience to go all the way in seeing it through. Also taking actions without doubt or even remorse, for boldness has magic, power plus genius in it. Remember, if you are a boss, making tough decisions will make people hate you today but live to thank you for generations since decision making is what builds a strong corporation.
