For the fellas out there, thinking about Valentine’s Day goes counter to the very fiber of our being. But when February rolls around, our minds must focus on pink hearts, red roses, and chocolate candies. Even that’s not enough anymore! Everywhere you turn, you’re encouraged to think out of the box. Reality TV has women watching their childhood princess fantasies manifest on TV. This over-stimulation of our society puts you in a situation as a man where merely acknowledging Valentine’s Day, as our fathers did, isn’t enough. If your head is reeling from this, fear not! Here are some unique date ideas assured to turn you into Prince Charming this Valentine’s Day.
Valentine’s Day Painting and Wine Classes
A terrific idea for Valentine’s Day is to take your date to a painting and wine class. Typically, you pay for a seat in an evening class, there’s a bar that serves wine and beer, and someone instructs the class how to paint a copy of famous painting. They usually supply all supplies, including the canvas. Then, you each get to bring your paintings home at the end of the night, and you’ll both know whenever you look at it that the other has the matching one. Isn’t that romantic?
Go on a Valentine’s Day Tour!
How often do you or your girlfriend do tourist things in your area? Chances are you don’t. There are things people in faraway lands are telling their relations about your area of which you are probably unaware. A unique date idea this Valentine’s Day would be to find a tour in your area. Here are some tours you can look for:
- Haunted or Ghost Tours
- Brewery Tours – learn about beer!
- City bus tour
- Mansion tours
- Stadium tours
If your girlfriend is the charitable type who never thinks of herself, perhaps taking her on a trip to volunteer time for some cause would be a good idea. Warning: if you volunteer at the animal shelter, you might end up adopting a kitten or puppy.
Unique Date: Make Photo Collages
If you’re more active, and can bear whatever weather February 14 has to offer, set out in a section of town, or combine it with a museum date, and you and your date take as many photos as you can. Then, you can return to a neutral area, print the pictures and make collages. Here are some supplies you’d need:
- Photo paper for your printer
- Plenty of Ink! (Be somewhat selective of what images you print)
- Glue Stick
- Some sort of decopauge glaze
Take her to a Museum
Museums are where localities display the most awesome stuff they have available. A lot of them are cool buildings too. Many museums have Valentine’s Day events. Look for unique museums in your area as well, maybe hit a couple museums and make it a Valentine’s Day knowledge quest.
