Nothing could be depicted as more ravishing than what Mother Nature has portrayed in the South American Continent. Painted by a stunning blast of Islands, glaciers, icebergs and mountains, the Chilean Patagonia is divided into two breath-taking beautiful sub-regions, Aysen in the north and the Magallanes in the south. Although Aysen features some gracefully carved landscapes and is home to the Parque National Laguna San Rafael, the primary attraction to the Chilean visit is the Magallanes. Separated from the rest of Chile by some impenetrable mountains and furious storms, Magallanes is home to the incomparable Torres Del Paine and the famous city of Punta Arenas.
Punta Arenas is considered to be the capital city of the Magallanes area as the region is very isolated. It is still a huge commercial town with a big tourism industry. It is the biggest city in Southern Chile and is considered to be the southernmost city. This city reached the zenith of prosperity during California Gold Rush because the port of Punta Arenas served to be the only haven after rounding Cape Horn. Today also it is the first city and port to anchor in after taking a round of Cape Horn. The secluded beach of Punta Arenas can be considered to be the best attraction in the city. This is the best place to take some breath after a hectic traveling schedule is completed around Chile. Most importantly this is the place from where you will have to start the drive for the most conspicuous location of Southern Chile named Torres Del Paine. Arguably, this is the most remarkable and wondrous site in Southern Chile.
Torres Del Paine or Tower Of Paine is a spectacular mountain range that serves as the framework for the famous natural reserve, Parque National Torres Del Paine. Visitors mostly choose to sojourn to this area for the park but the real beauty of the area and the real awe wielding features are offered by the towering mountain range itself. Cerulean lakes and natural trails meandering through gorgeously green forest paint a sight that can completely mesmerize you with its beauty. Standing tall at a height of 9000m from sea level and 2000m above the Patagonian Steppe, these green trails had served as the most coveted site for sheep herding and thus the pastures in the area is still recovering from the 100 years of exploitation. However the lack of commendable pastures in the area has not affected the colors in the area. When you reach the foothills of the Tower after four hours of straining hike, the Emerald Mountain, azure lakes and greyish trails can make you feel like you are reborn.
Find accommodation in these southern areas can be a bit tricky . Search for any camping or a cabin can be a good option.
This is just a small description of the beauty of Southern Chile. If you want to take in the beauty completely, you better visit the site by yourself and revel in its grandeur.
