Although I adore my cat, Tyrone, he does a lot of things that annoy me. He is a fluff ball that has many nicknames such as “Sir Baggy Pants,” “Fluffernutter,” and “Stop!” My cat is a very special member of my family and he has his own unique ways that he annoys me on a daily basis.
One joy in my life with my cat is randomly finding hairballs around the house. I know that he cannot help it, but they are disgusting and sometimes they smell bad. If I don’t find one right away, it dries up and has to be scraped off of the floor. Then I have to spray the spot down with all-purpose cleaner. It’s not my favorite job.
Every morning when my alarm goes off, my dog jumps off the bed and my cat comes in the room meowing. He meows over and over again. Other times when my alarm doesn’t go off, he sits and waits. He watches. The second my cat sees a sign of movement from me, he starts. “Meow…meow…meow.” I get up and go to the bathroom and both of the animals follow me in there. They don’t leave me alone until they are both fed, but the dog is not bad. It’s the meowing that drives me nuts.
My cat is also very notorious, as all cats are, for not listening to me, ever. If I want to pet him, he will not come near me. If I close the door to a room, he runs into the door, trying to open it. Anytime I tell him to stop, he keeps doing what he is doing. One Christmas, the cat looked at me, looked at a Christmas ornament, looked back at me, and then swatted it with his paw. He knew exactly what he was doing.
All cats love to stare out windows, and my cat is no exception. In his clumsiness, he broke every single blind that I had in the house. I’ve had to replace the blinds several times, each time with different types, and none have been durable enough for my fat cat. One blind fell victim to a bird’s shadow. My cat leapt at the window to catch the bird, breaking my vinyl blind right down the middle.
With this cat, it seems like the more attention I give him, the more he wants. I was feeling kind of bad for him when we first got our dog, so I did all sorts of things to make it up to him. I built him a cat condo and a carpeted shelf that he could lay on. I bought him toys and tried to play with him a lot. The more I gave, the more he meowed at me. He begged me for attention by rolling over on his back. His fuzzy belly beckoned me to rub it.
But my cat is fickle with love. He doesn’t want to sit on your lap and fall asleep. My cat will let you think that he is cool with all the lovings and then attack your hand when you least expect it.
My cat is so annoying. All of these things give him great character and give me great stories to tell people. My cat is like a little person. He has his likes and dislikes. He creates chaos in my life. Still, I couldn’t envision it without him.
