Quaker Rice Cakes, White Cheddar are rice cakes that have the taste of buttered popcorn. That is the best way I can explain this taste! Each of the rice cakes is about 7-inches across and around 1-inch thick. They come in a plastic bag similar to the bags that loaf bread comes in. The rice cakes come in sealed smaller bags inside of the larger bag.
I was first introduced to Quaker Rice Cakes by a Girl Scout Troop leader. The Girl Scout Troop had brought in a treat that my child could not have and the Troop Leader brought out these rice cakes just for my daughter. Since then, we have purchased Quaker Rice Cakes in different flavors each week. This week I purchased Quaker Rice Cakes, White Cheddar to try something different in the line. This is the first time we have eaten this flavor of the rice cakes.
My child loves to eat these rice cakes so that is a big bonus! I do not feel as if it is an unhealthy snack choice and it is not loaded down with sugars. It is a versatile snack. We have added peanut butter spread on them, cottage cheese, and had them plain. There is a loud crunch sound as you bite into them and they are crunchy throughout eating them. Great replacement for potato chips! Also they feel substantial in your mouth.
What I liked most is the ease of travel. These snacks last forever and do not freeze in cold weather and do not melt in hot weather so we can carry them anywhere, any time. On the road to soccer practice, going to the park, anywhere! My child has eaten them with her breakfast in place of toast, at snacktime, and on long trips in the car. They are not messy as most snacks for kids! They smell like buttered popcorn! They are beige and yellow in color.
I love these Quaker Rice Cakes, White Cheddar. I did not taste any White Cheddar in the rice cakes. To me, they taste like buttered popcorn, so yummy! The scent is like buttered popcorn too! I love white cheddar and would recognize white cheddar flavor, but I did not in this snack. I do not like adding any spreads onto it; I like to eat them plain. My daughter also enjoys this flavor, but likes to spread on peanut butter. This is a great low-sugar snack choice for me!
There are more flavors of Quaker Rice Cakes to try: Butter Popped Corn (adding that to my grocery list), and Caramel Corn are just a couple. At Walmart, I only found three of the choices available.
I am always on the lookout for yummy snack options that are not high-calorie or high-fat for my daughter and her friends. Too much junk food, candy, and cakes at every children’s event lately is common. So I bring along our own snack most of the time unless we are just running late and then we leave early so we do not wait for the junk food. Kids today eat entirely too much junk. I am trying to raise my child eating healthy foods and hopefully that she will prefer a piece of fresh fruit over a candy bar. I wish that I had been raised that way! These sugar cravings are the worst!
Serving size is one rice cake. Total fat is 0.5 grams. Calories in one rice cake is 45. Sugars in each serving is 1 grams. Sodium is 105 mg. Made by The Quaker Oats Company.
We love this flavor and the others that we have tried. I never thought we would be eating rice cakes! They sound so dry and unappealing, but these are great! It is a great tasting, healthy snack option and easy to take anywhere.
