Why Do You Not Believe in God?

by fat vox

Atheists do not believe in God and the reason they give are many. I checked online at an Atheists site and on of the first reasons they give is that some feel that with some many belief systems how are they to know the right one? If they are indeed looking for the right belief system, then they need to define the word truth first.

Ephesians 1:13 – 14 King James Version
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also, having that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession,

Ephesians 1:13 – 14 New King James Version
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

First off God never said this in English. God spoke ancient Hebrew and that’s what Moses wrote it in. The Bible was translated into Greek then to many other language and with that understanding, word meanings were lost in translation. That why we get new versions of the same texts. The word Ye in this case is simply old English for the word You. You need to trust that the meaning of the message is constant even if the translation becomes different.

When dealing with taking what was said from someone else. I mention this because man has a habit of twisting words and meanings to suit their own ends. So even if someone told you the truth you have to trust and believe it. The best way is to then hear it from the source without some one else telling you what was said. Take this example from the Bible itself;

Genesis 1:16 – 17 King James Version
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; 17 But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die

God said this to Man. Woman was not created then. Man then had to tell Woman what God said. When Woman went to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, she was there without God or Man only the serpent.

Genesis 3:2 – 3 King James Version
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

The serpent knew this was wrong. Woman misquoted God and lost the meaning of His words.

Genesis 3:4 King James Version
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die;

He even changed what Woman just said to him more to what God had said. So the Serpent clearly new better than Woman what God said. So what that means is that if you take what others say then you are left to what they believe is the meanings of the Word. The Word is easy to understand in a group lead by those of the Holy Spirit but if it is not being taught then the meaning is being lost. I could tell you what you want to hear but that may not be the truth. The truth is what sets you free of your burdens. If you are Christian the you follow Jesus Christ. It is what he says we follow for He is the fulfillment of God’s Word.

Here is a rewritten version of Ephesians 1:13 – 14:
It is in Jesus Christ you need to trust after you hear the word of truth from the bible, the gospel of your salvation. You need to believed you were purchased with the blood of Jesus Christ at the cross and given the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance of eternal life until the time comes of the redemption of the purchased possession of our souls.

Like the child’s game of telephone the word get changed over time and from person to person. God asks you not to just take His Words as told by man, God asks you to understand the truth. Truth is defined like this in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary 2013 online app:

truth oun
1. a) archaic : fidelity, constancy
b) : sincerity in action, character, and utterance
2. a) (1) : the state of being the case : fact
(2) : the body of real things, events, and facts : actuality
(3) often capitalized : a transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality
b) : a judgement, proposition, or idea that is true or accepted as true
c) : the body of true statements and propositions
3. a) : the property (as of a statement) of being in accord with fact or reality
b) : Chiefly British : true 2.
c) : fidelity to an original or to a standard
4. capitalized Christian Science : God

Atheists do not believe. Without belief there is no transcending or accepting of fact. Your parents first tell you what is fact. You have to accept what they say is the truth, otherwise you have no understanding of reality. God has made accepting the truth just believing in Jesus Christ

God has promised to those who hear the truth and believe in to receive the Holy Spirit to understand it. The answer to how do you know if have the right or true belief system is the Holy Spirit. Believe in Jesus Christ that he is the truth of God’s Word, the way to heaven and the life everlasting

The beauty of the whole process is that extends His grace for you to understand this first hand.
“Those who do not stand for something will fall for anything.”
