If you love Angry Birds, you’re not alone. Angry Birds tops the App Store’s list of paid downloads and Angry Birds Free ranks in the top 20 free apps downloaded.
Angry Birds isn’t just for techies and teens. For busy executives and moms on the go, Angry Birds offers a quick gaming fix anywhere you may be.
At first, you may just enjoy the battle to defeat the pigs. After playing Angry Birds for a while, your need to win takes over.
If you want to know how to win at Angry Birds, ask an expert. I asked my 12-year-old grandson Kyle for his best tips and tricks to share.
Know Your Birds
Kyle says you can win at Angry Birds when you know your birds and their powers. All birds are not equal. Each bird can be used to help you score the big points.
You’ll find a quick chart to tell you how each bird can be used at AngryBirdsWorld.com. In Kyle’s words, “The red bird is useless.”
The chart on Angry Birds World isn’t quite as blunt, saying that there’s nothing special about the red bird. The higher you launch the red bird, the more damage it will do.
The blue bird is great at breaking glass structures. Tap the screen right before the bird hits the glass and it will break into three birds that will destroy the glass.
The yellow bird is best on wood and excels at long distances. When you tap the screen, the yellow bird goes into high speed for the most damage.
The white bird drops egg bombs on the pigs. When the bomb drops, the white bird speeds up and angles so you can aim low at the structure.
The green bird is the boomerang bird. When you’re flying over the target, tap the screen to reverse directions. The green bird can also be launched directly into structures.
The black bird is Kyle’s favorite. The black bird is the most destructive. Black birds are great on metal. When you tap the screen, the black bird explodes.
Ready, Aim, Destroy
You probably already know that the pigs are protected within the structures made of various substances like glass, wood and metal.
Patience pays off when you play Angry Birds. Wait to use each bird’s powers until you’re right in front of the structure you want to destroy.
Kyle says it’s best to aim at the bottom of the structure. When you attack the balance of the structure, it’s more likely it will destroy another pig when it falls.
More Damage Means More Points
Each unused bird is worth 10,000 points so don’t use your birds until you need them. Repeat attacks mean you’ll do more damage.
Lots of damage means you’ll score big points. Follow the white dotted tracker repeatedly if your attack works. If you miss by a bit, place the next bird a little higher or lower on the tracker.
Unlock the Golden Eggs to Find New Levels
There are golden eggs hidden throughout the levels. It’s not always easy to find the golden eggs, but it’s worth the trouble.
You can try to find the golden eggs on your own. Some appear when a bird travels in a really high arc. Others appear when you scroll off the side of the screen.
If you need a little help, there are guides to use to find the golden eggs. AngryBirdsNest.com offers a complete guide to unlocking the golden eggs to find the new levels.
You can win at Angry Birds if you use these tips to help you. Whether you prefer the classic game, Angry Birds Friends on Facebook, or one of the other versions, destroy the pigs and score big.
