“WWE Raw” features good guys and bad guys, (also known as baby faces and heels) are the centerpiece of pro wrestling fantasy. But I feel E Entertainment will ruin those barriers of disbelief with the reality show, “Total Divas“. WWE Divas typically have the backseat to their male counterparts, but their chance to shine can also be the end due to:
- “WWE Raw” is a fantasy television show
- E Entertainment‘s “Total Divas” is a reality show with the same characters
- Pro Wrestling is a scripted and secretive suspension of disbelief
- WWE Divas revealing too many secrets of the business could lose younger fans
“WWE Raw” and E Entertainment make a deal
I’ve been watching “WWE Raw” for years. I remember when they announced a deal with E Entertainment. I thought the concept of WWE Divas being featured outside of the WWE Wrestling would ruin pro wrestling. Even if the E Entertainment show is four and a half months behind “WWE Raw” there can be problems. How long until younger fans or marks know their heroes are sleeping with the enemy?
Pro Wrestling fans turn from Marks to Smarts
John Cena is the face of “WWE Raw” and pro wrestling. What happens when marks (fans who think WWE wrestling is real) see their hero dating the villainous heel like Nikki Bella? Smarts are fans who know some of the inside business of pro wrestling. Is this going to blow the young minds of children who can’t differentiate fantasy from reality?
E Entertainment Reality Destroys Pro Wrestling Fantasy
“WWE Raw” is all about good guys versus bad guys. There are similar connections to a comic book or a soap opera. I have my worries when the E Entertainment show features the WWE Divas‘ personal lives. Fans of both shows will know who they really like or don’t like. On the upside, showing the backstage antics is interesting. But will pro wrestling fantasy get ruined from this inside take?
WWE Divas get a Push in WWE Wrestling
I feel on “WWE Raw” the WWE Divas are viewed as eye candy for the male audience. You can even hear a much more quite WWE Wrestling audience’s tone during a WWE Divas match. But hopefully now seeing their real lives, they can get a push (a wrestling term for increasing popularity) that they need. Or perhaps it will turn WWE Wrestling on its head faster than the XFL.
