2012 was an excellent year for movies, and 2013 has been just as great if not an even better year when it comes to cinema. While we have had some excellent (and not so excellent) films come out in 2013, the year isn’t over yet. Movie goers have plenty of movies to be excited about this upcoming holiday season.
Thor: The Dark World
The Avengers left many Marvel fans craving more films from their favorite characters. While fans of Iron Man got their fix earlier this year, fans of Thor will get to see their favorite Thunder God back in action when he comes to theaters on November 8.
Carrie (Remake)
While there have decent remakes of classic films , movie remakes still receive a bad reputation. This is especially true when it comes to remakes of classic horror films. But horror fans have a good reason to have faith in the remake of Brian De Palma’s classic horror, Carrie. Chloe’ Mortez has already proven that she can bring depth and maturity to her roles. Fans of the original can decide whether or not the remake holds up on October 18.
Free Birds
Box office hits such as Despicable Me 2 and Monster’s University have proven that animation can be entertaining for the whole family. Free Birds looks to be a great animated comedy that the whole family can enjoy. Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson are sure to bring charm and humor to their roles as turkeys on a mission to go back in time to keep their species from becoming a holiday main course. Free Birds will be coming to theaters just in time to bring Thanksgiving spirit to audiences on November 1.
Saving Mr. Banks
In this biographical drama, Tom Hanks will be the first man to portray the late Walt Disney in a dramatic role. Throughout the years of his long career, Hanks has shown his talent and strength as an actor and is sure to bring an interesting take on an already interesting icon. You will be able to see Tom Hanks as the iconic mogul on December 20.
Whether you prefer action, horror, drama or movies for the whole family, there are plenty of choices coming to theaters. With other great films being released in the next three months, there is a chance you’ll find a new favorite film of 2013 before the year’s end.
