Black sugar sheets or candy melts
Isn’t it wonderful? It’s it great to craft the most spectacular baked goods now? With the creation of easy-to-use products the average person can make eye-popping wedding cakes, pies featuring drawn artwork, and cookies with vintage designs. Things like sugar sheets, edible markers, and candy melts, help ordinary people become professional bakers. But some of those products, although easy to use, require lots of time to use them, such as drawing an art design on a pie. There are, however, more simplistic images that you can create, and they’re super easy. One that you’ll love for a safari party, or to send off someone who is going to Africa, is a zebra cookie. It’s so easy to make that you can spend extra time decorating the room.
It used to be that a zebra cookie took considerable talent and time to make. You had to be steady with the hand to draw black lines, and white ones, piping the frosting on like a professional. Nowadays, new products make the process so very simple. All you have to do to get started is to bake or buy the cookies that you want to use; they should have smooth tops. Dark cookies are preferable.
A black sugar sheet is one way to apply the black coating to the top of the cookie. Follow the directions on the product to apply it. Another method is to spread black candy melts on the cookie. You could also start with a black treat, such as a peppermint patty. If you’re coating the top of the cookie, do that, and then allow any candy or coating to set.
Pipe on white frosting to instantly make black cookies look like zebra cookies. If you have cake decorating tools it’s especially easy. If you don’t, put white frosting in a sandwich bag and twist it. Snip the corner out of the bag and squeeze to dispense.
Randomly dispense stripes onto the cookie but don’t make them be straight lines. It can be helpful to look at pictures of zebra stripes to get an idea of how they start, stop, curve, widen, and narrow. The best stripes are created when you dispense the frosting quickly, making “z” shapes, and similar ones.
Black and white cookies have always been breathtaking and classy. But the ones you make will outshine any that have ever been seen. If you don’t want zebra stripes, follow the steps here, but change the white frosting to make dots, straight lines, geometric shapes, or other images. Don’t want black? Replace it with pink, purple, or another color.
